Global Times Tourism Forum Opens and Permanently Locates in Daying

The Global Times Tourism Forum is sponsored by the Global Times news agency and co-sponsored by several media organizations. Aimed at prompting the international communications in tourism culture, the forum seeks to consolidate the first-rate resources in domestic and overseas political, business, academic and media communities in the efforts to build the most influential platform in the Chinese tourism sector. The forum is temporarily set to be a biennial event permanently located in Romandisea, Daying, Sichuan.

With the new trends of world tourism and new themes of Chinese tourism as the background, construction commencement of the Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort and the unsinkable Titanic as the core events, and building Daying into a top international tourism city and world tourist destination as the opportunity, the forum will gather minds to explore the international solutions for the development of Chinese tourism and innovation of experience-oriented tourism, and discuss the operation model and future prospects of the Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort, thus offering references for the transformation of the tourism industry and contributing wisdom for China to become a world-class tourist destination.

Executive of the Global Times noted that the forum is built as a high-level international platform of communications to meet the international development trend of the Chinese tourism sector and especially create a high-level international platform of communications. “The tourism sector is transforming across the globe, and tourism consumption is undergoing greater fundamental changes in China as well. As tourists raise their tourism consciousness and perception, their pursuits have transformed from simple sightseeing and adventures to personal and emotional tourism experiences. Our tourism sector has yet to follow up with such a conversion of demand however. Landscape and sightseeing-oriented resorts have therefore begun to face multiple problems, such as the decline of appeal, slowdown of consumption growth, drop of economic returns and damages on the attractions. The very reason we are building such a platform today is to fully integrate the domestic and foreign resources, streamline the latest developments in the Chinese tourism sector, and help the sector to promptly identify the latest market needs and accommodate accordingly, thus driving the Chinese tourism sector to develop in the international direction in a more stable way.” Event effects

Top Industry Figures Provide Inspirations for International Development

“The sightseeing resource is not so distinguished in Daying when compared to such renowned resorts like the Valley of Nine Tibetan Villages and Mount Emei. Daying however was able to play up its strengths and avoid its weaknesses by focusing on experience-based tourism. The Chinese Dead Sea is one excellent example. The Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort this time is more of a world-class high-tech experience-based resort that stands on the height of international perspective and fully utilizes its quality resources. This allows Daying to not only stand out from sight-seeing tourism, but also quickly ascend to the role of leading tourism upgrading and remodeling in China. It is therefore only natural to host the Global Times Tourism Forum in such a place,” remarked head of the organizational committee, Huang Li.

The forum will leverage foreign brainpower and efforts to provide international experiences and development solutions for the Chinese tourism industry’s upgrading and market development drives with references to the current Chinese industry status and the experiences of mature tourist destinations across the globe. Meanwhile, by leveraging the rich resources and advantages of the Global Times and its partners, the forum will not only focus on tourism projects themselves, but also provide its interpretations of the industry from a strategic viewpoint and angles of regional economic development, cultural industry planning and economic restructuring, for which the forum will also supply intelligent supports and tactics. Full Start of Titanic Revival and Romandisea Construction

Apart from the opening of the Global Times Tourism Forum, the most eye-catching event of the day is the full start of construction on the unsinkable Titanic and the Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort where the ship will be located in.

We were the first paper to unveil in last October the news of a full-size Titanic replica to be built in Daying, which soon triggered global attentions. Domestic media including papers, internet and televisions covered the story, and the number of microblog posts amounted to tens of thousands. Many global media in America, Germany and other countries followed up on the report.

“The new Titanic will be built 1:1 to the original ship. Standing 270 meters long, 28 meters wide and 31.7 tall from the keel to the bridge, the ship will be permanently docked by the Qi River of Daying County, Sichuan Province. Both the exterior and interior structures are designed in complete reference to the original Titanic. (The ship) will house major ball rooms and high-end first-class berths. The intention and purpose of the investment is to allow people to fully experience the life on the original Titanic,” said Charlie Jianling Gao, Executive President of GC High-tech Inc. Asia during an interview with West China Metropolitan Daily.

In fact, however, this “unsinkable Titanic” is but one of the products of the “Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort”. The Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort is a first-class high-tech ecological tourism project co-built by the well-funded Seven Star Energy Investment Group, a company richly experienced in investment and management, and the American planning and design firm GC High-tech Inc., and supported by the world’s top teams from Hollywood and Disneyland.

Centerpieces of the project will include: the Romandisea International Cultural Tourism Complex, full-size remake of Titanic liner, manmade beach, 6D movie theatre and high-tech performance center, Venetian church, Turkish spa, world blockbuster experience house, high-tech cultural tourism experience house, ancient Qi-style town, ancient Qi-style ecological agriculture and mountain and aquatic park. The project was officially signed off to locate in Daying at the business deal signing ceremony of the 14th Western China International Fair on October 24th, 2013. Construction will start today. Its first attractions are slated to open to the public in the end of 2016. Event effects

A Benchmark Project for International Transformation of Chinese Tourism

As construction of the project officially starts, a gigantic tourist destination is about to surface. What impacts and influences will such a high-profile project bring to the local tourism industry of Daying? The well-known tourism expert Wang Bo believes, “objectively speaking, the original mountain and water resource in Daying is quite remarkable, but not so distinguished when compared to such renowned resorts like the Valley of Nine Tibetan Villages and Mount Emei. This allows Daying not only stand out from sight-seeing tourism, but also quickly ascend to the role of leading tourism upgrading and remodeling in China.”

In Wang Bo’s view, the need to upgrade and remodel tourism in Daying is actually shared by many regions and even the entire China, because sightseeing is now far from meeting people’s needs whereas in-depth experience-oriented travel is the future direction of tourism. “The Romandisea Seven Star International Cultural Tourism Resort can be regarded as an experiment in China’s drive to remodel and upgrade tourism property. Once successful, it will become not just a new icon of Chinese tourism, but also an important example and benchmark of tourism conversion in China.”
