Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group and Seven Star executives in discussion
Morning, February 11th, 2015, a delegation of five executives from Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Company Limited including deputy general manager Wang Weiling, general manager’s assistant Wang Xiaobo, deputy chief engineer Lan Zhihua, project manager Song Jianmin and business manager Ma Xiaohuan flew to Seven Star’s Chengdu headquarters to communicate with Seven Star chairman Su Shaojun, general manager Huang Li and other top executives on the specific construction plan for the “unsinkable Titanic”. The two sides reached a consensus and finalized the specific construction plan through the meeting.
The shipyard construction for the Titanic will be officially kicked off in mid March 2015 with a groundbreaking ceremony; its foundation work is estimated to complete and the ship body assembling work to start in May 2015; the body and exterior are estimated to all emerge and the interior work to begin in May 2016; and by August 2017, a brand new Titanic is expected to deliver. By then, the world’s only real-size replica of the original Titanic shall open its arms to embrace tourists from across the globe, undergo baptism of the Titanic spirit, and pass on the sense of responsibility, courage and universal love embodying the human civilization.
An affiliate of the China Shipbuilding Industry Company Limited, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. was first founded in 1934, renamed to Wuchang Shipyard in January 1953 , restructured to Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. in February 2009 and in May 2014 changed its name to Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Company Limited. Its Deputy General Manager Wang Weiling remarked that since taking on the “unsinkable Titanic”, a project eagerly anticipated by a billion of people around the world, in 2014, the entire company had been highly committed to this massive project, regarding it as a landmark project of the company. Despite the many unexpected challenges, the company as a central government-owned enterprise with hundreds of years of experience making various ships, is confident to present a new Titanic of first-rate world standards to deliver a vivid reproduction of such a significant heritage of human culture.
